Juveniles at Knock Golf Club

KGC are committed to welcoming junior golfers & helping them to learn, to enjoy and to improve their golf. We recognise that young people have a lot to gain from playing any sport but we believe that golf has a unique contribution to make in this area.

In 2008 we introduced an new 'Cadet' category which is for young people aged between 8yrs - 11yrs, the idea being to get young members involved with golf as early as possible. We currently have 22 young people in this category and would actively encourage boys and girls to come along and join our club in any of the juvenile sections.

Knock has developed a Juvenile Protection Policy which it is fully proud of and committed to.

The privilege of being a member- carries responsibilities at all times- proper behaviour both on and off the course and in or on club property. Council at times makes rules regarding standards, behaviour, dress code etc. You must make sure that you know about these rules and that you abide by them.

A Message from the Juvenile Convener

Winning and losing are important parts of sport and of life, but they must be kept in perspective. With a proper balance combined with honesty and fair play you will develop self-respect, respect for others and make many new and often life long friendships.

Golf is a game decency, honesty and sportsmanship we expect our juveniles to

•Abide by rules and by-laws of club, play fairly, do your best but have fun

•Respect officials and accept their decisions, respect your fellow members

•Respect opponents - they are not enemies, they are fellow competitors

•Respect the golf course and club property and your own equipment

•Be modest in victory and gracious in defeat

Things you must not do include

•Cheat, tell lies about other young people or adults

•Use violence or shout at fellow members, officials or opponents

•Bully

•Spread rumors or keep secrets about anybody who has caused them or others harm

•Take or use any banned or illegal substances.

We at Knock wish all our junior members to enjoy their golf in a happy and safe environment and we strongly encourage parents or guardians to take an active interest in their children and whenever possible help with organisation, transport etc when the juveniles are playing away at another course.

Remember that golf is one of the very few games that U can play for the most of your life so it’s important to get all the important aspects right at the earliest age possible.
