Junior Section
The junior section at Knock is open to young golfers (male and female) up to the age of 18 and has a long history of producing both Ulster Provincial and Irish international players.
Junior members have full access to the course everyday and the opportunity to receive free coaching from the club professional. Upon attaining a handicap of 15 or lower, juniors may enter all senior competitions excluding Captain’s Day and President’s Day. A separate competition with prizes will be available on those days for the junior section.
Junior competitions are played throughout the year on Sundays and during school holidays a separate midweek Thursday event is played in the Summer season. Junior members also enjoy their own Presidents and Captains days (August and July) and a junior Captains day with the opportunity to represent Knock, against our friends at Elm Park in Dublin in an annual challenge.
As the juniors develop their golfing skills, selection to one of the many junior teams is likely. The teams cater for all standards of golfer and inter club competition enables to play other courses and meet other young golfers.
The junior section is organised by a team of adults throughout the season and under the guidance of a Junior Convenor as well as a fully accredited Child Liaison Officer. Each year the junior committee select a junior entering his or her final year to be Captain.
As members of the Club, junior members have similar entitlements as full adult members and have the right to sign in 3 visiting golfers any day at discounted green fees.
